Elsemap Terms of Use

Last updated: 16 October 2026

The short version

  • Elsemap is a free utility from an independent developer. It is licensed to you under Apple’s standard app licence; these terms add to it.
  • It works out where a link points, but it can be wrong or approximate. Check the place in Apple Maps before you rely on it, and never use Elsemap in an emergency.
  • It depends on Google and Apple services that can change or stop working without notice.
  • It is provided “as is”, without warranties, and the developer’s liability is limited as far as the law allows.
  • Elsemap is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Apple or Google.

1. Who these terms are with, and accepting them

These Terms of Use (“terms”) are an agreement between you and Alireza (“the developer”, “we”, “us”), the individual developer of Elsemap. They apply to the Elsemap iOS app, its “Open in Maps” share and action extensions, its Shortcuts action and bundled Shortcut (together, “the app”), and to the Elsemap pages on alireza.app.

By downloading, installing or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app, and delete it from your device.

2. Apple’s licence agreement

The app is distributed through Apple’s App Store and is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These terms supplement the Standard EULA. If these terms conflict with the Standard EULA regarding your licence to use the app, the Standard EULA governs.

As the Standard EULA explains, the developer — not Apple — is responsible for the app and for addressing any claims relating to it, and Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it.

3. What the app does

Elsemap opens a shared Google Maps link, or a plain street address, in Apple Maps. It reads the link (on your device where it can, or by asking Google when a short link needs it and you allow it), optionally looks the place up with Apple’s map services, tells you what it found, and hands the destination to Apple Maps. It is free and has no in-app purchases, accounts or subscriptions.

How the app handles data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

4. Accuracy and safety

Elsemap tells you what kind of result it found, but it doesn’t pretend to be certain, and neither should you. In particular:

  • Results can be wrong or approximate. Matching a link to a place in Apple Maps is based on the evidence available and can be mistaken. A link that only carries a map view opens an approximate spot. A link that only names a place may open as a search. A nearby place Elsemap suggests is only a suggestion.
  • Directions links open the last stop only. Elsemap does not transfer routes, stops or travel modes.
  • Elsemap is not a navigation app. Once a destination opens, Apple Maps provides any map, route or directions, under Apple’s terms.
  • Check before you rely on it. Confirm that the place shown in Apple Maps is the one you meant before you travel, share it, or make decisions based on it.
  • Never use Elsemap in an emergency. Do not rely on it to locate or reach emergency services, or in any situation where a wrong or delayed location could cause harm. Call your local emergency number instead.
  • Stay safe and obey the law. Don’t operate the app while driving or in any way that distracts you. Always follow traffic laws, road signs and conditions, which take priority over anything shown on screen.

5. Third-party services

Parts of the app depend on services run by others:

  • Google — revealing a shortened Google Maps link, and some name-only links, requires a request to Google’s servers, which only happens as your settings allow. Elsemap relies on how Google’s links and pages behave today, which Google may change at any time. If you choose “Never”, short links will not open.
  • Apple — optional place matching uses Apple’s map services, and every destination is opened in Apple Maps.

We don’t control these services. They may change, slow down, limit requests, fail or stop working without notice, and when they do, parts of Elsemap may stop working too. Your use of them is subject to their own terms and privacy policies, including Google’s privacy policy and Apple’s privacy policy.

6. Acceptable use

You may use the app for your own personal, lawful purposes, within the Standard EULA. You agree not to:

  • use the app to break any law or to infringe anyone else’s rights, including their privacy;
  • use the app to send automated, excessive or abusive requests to Google, Apple or anyone else, or to get around their limits or terms;
  • copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
  • interfere with the app’s security or privacy protections.

7. Trademarks and non-affiliation

Elsemap is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to Apple Inc. or Google LLC.

Google Maps is a trademark of Google LLC. Apple, Apple Maps, iPhone, iPad, Siri, Shortcuts and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries and regions. Other names are the property of their respective owners. These names are used only to describe what the app works with.

The app, its icon and its design are the developer’s work. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved.

8. No warranty

The app is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer makes no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, that it will find the right place, or that it will keep working with Google’s or Apple’s services.

Some places don’t allow certain warranties to be excluded. In those places, the exclusions above apply only as far as the law allows, and you keep any rights you have that cannot be excluded.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, time, opportunity or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the app — including any harm caused by relying on a location the app showed or opened — even if we were told such damage was possible.

To the extent permitted by law, the developer’s total liability for all claims relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it (the app is free) or, if greater and required by applicable law, the minimum amount that law allows.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

10. Changes to the app and to these terms

We may update, change or stop offering the app, or any feature of it, at any time, and we don’t promise that it will remain available on the App Store or compatible with future versions of iOS.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above. If a change is material, we’ll make reasonable efforts to give notice, for example on this page. Continuing to use the app after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

11. Ending these terms

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. Your right to use the app ends automatically if you break these terms or the Standard EULA. Sections 4 and 7–12 continue to apply after these terms end.

12. Governing law and general terms

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where the developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules — unless mandatory consumer protection law where you live says otherwise, in which case you keep the protection of that law.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our not enforcing a part of these terms is not a waiver of it. These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Standard EULA are the entire agreement between you and the developer about the app.
